“The distance between people passing by on the levee is just right.” I'm Megumi. My secret pleasure is strolling leisurely along the levee during the day. I sit on the grass, walk sideways down the slope, and sometimes just gaze into the distance, lost in thought. But above all, there's that moment when someone walks toward me from the other side of the levee. A small silhouette appears in the distance, gradually growing larger, and our eyes meet for just a split second as we pass each other. Sometimes there's a “Hello,” and sometimes there isn't. That's nice, too.
I'm not looking for anyone in particular, but that fleeting moment of passing makes my time on the levee feel just a little bit special. Who will I meet today? With that anticipation in my heart, I start walking along the levee once again.
